The Iron is the best antidepressant I have ever found. There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it’s impossible to turn back.
The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black.
I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds. – Henry Rollins.
So. I made this video to touch a little bit on how I felt when I first starting going to the gym, and how I kept my motivation to do so. It's raw, it's real & I hope all of you can relate to it!! It's my first video so be easy on me, har har. I already have an idea for my next video, but let me know what else you'd like to see! I love you guys!

A lot of people have been asking me if I take any supplements in addition to working out & I do! Here's a list of what I take below..
Www.Bodybuilding.com has always been my favorite site to order stuff from. They're very detailed about their products & there are real reviews of people who have used the products. They also let you compare products which makes it so easy if you're an indecisive person.. like myself. Check it out if you're not sure where to start with what to buy!
This post is fun because maybe i'll learn a thing or two also! :) This is all about terms that people who are into fitness/clean eating/& working out may use that just don't make any sense to you! Fitness Guru's really have their own language when it comes to eating and lifting.
I hope this was fun & you learned something! Any other words i'm missing that would be helpful? Leave them in the comments! This is one of the most common questions I get from people. EATING WELL is the key to a healthy lifestyle. Going to the gym is great, but if you're not eating well you are not giving your body what it truly needs. The best piece of advice I can give you when you food shop is to STAY AWAY FROM PROCESSED FOODS! What does this mean? If you pick something up in the store and that item had to go through a lot of processes to be 'made' and put on the shelf.. you probably shouldn't eat it. I will give you some examples of things to look for and things to stay away from when food shopping. Foods to Stay Away From
Foods you Should Buy
One of my alltime FAVORITE apps I use at the grocery store is called ShopWell. It's a simple app that inputs what your needs are for food and what you DON'T want in your food (gluten, wheat, soy, sugar, etc.) & you simply scan any food and it will give you a score of 1-100 if it fits your needs or not. Extremely easy & you can earn points that turn into gift cards! This is not an ad.. lol. I just really love the app! This is the app icon below. I hope this helps! Xo You have no idea where to start when you walk into the gym except to head straight for the treadmills.. am I right? & while on the treadmill you're bored and watching all the other girls and guys utilizing the full gym that you pay for but you're too embarrassed to try because you have no idea what you're doing. I'm here to fix that. I used to be that person also, but I am wacky & I very rarely get embarrassed so one day I decided to just go for it & you know what.. It really wasn't that bad. First here's some things to remember while you're in the gym that might make you feel like a little better: 1. No one is paying attention to what you're doing because they're working on themselves. Seriously, they don't care what you're doing. 2. A lot of the people there feel exactly like you do. 3. If you don't step outside of your comfort zone, you won't know what you're capable of. That brings me to what you should be doing.. here are a couple simple workouts you can try that only focus on 1 or 2 muscles per workout.
All of these exercises you can look up on Youtube to make sure you're doing them correctly. I believe in one or two muscles per workout but for someone just getting started and familiar with the gym.. this is a great start! Not every workout works for everyone, there is no right or wrong way to do it, it's about finding what's right for you! This will get you more comfortable being away from the 'cardio section' in the gym and opening up your imagination to other things! Leave me any questions you have below! "The expert in anything was once a beginner." Here's what you've all been waiting for! I've had quite a few people tell me I should do this, so why not. I want my blog to be raw & real and shine light on the struggles we face everyday that relate to WHY we're in the gym. It's interesting when you get to know someone who's 'obsessed' with the gym the reasons that they started in the first place. I've come to realize that the people who really stick to it are the people who have deeper reasons than just looking good on the outside. For me, it was about finding myself again. I had lost myself (or never knew who I was in the first place) and when I stepped foot in the gym, it made me feel like my whole body inside and out had a purpose to be here. That i'm allowed to go through struggles and challenge myself. We're supposed to, right? Some of us don't realize that failure is not the end of something, but the beginning of success. If anything, the gym has taught me that the only way to succeed is to be patient and TRUST that you can reach goals you set if you're consistent. I believe consistency is the most important part of going to the gym. Without it, you'll keep falling behind -- just like in life. I had a trainer ask me one day "Why do you want to get fit?" & of course my answer was "I want to feel better about myself." ..she looked at me and said "no reeeeally think about it for a second, why?" And so I came back with "Well I want to compete this year" Which I thought was a great answer at the time, lol. At the end of our conversation I was in tears and she was consoling me about all of my demons in my past and somehow I had a therapy session instead of a training session. From then on I really started my journey. My point is that if you don't know what your REAL why is.. you'll never stick to the gym as your lifestyle. You have to dig REALLY deep and ask yourself why you're really doing this. Because there will be days that you will NOT want to get out of bed at 4 AM just to lift something up & put it back down. Or you'll want to eat the ice cream while your out with friends instead of simply saying no. No one is going to DRAG you there, they'll go alone. People WILL tell you you're crazy.. they WILL make fun of you for wanting it so badly it hurts, they'll offer you foods you don't want to eat and they'll tell you not to 'overdo' it. The ONLY thing that is going to stand between you sticking to it and you crumbling like a wet cracker is going to be your 'why'. Find it, put it in your pocket, and don't forget it. Good luck sticking to your goals & crushing every single one of them!! These are some of my goals for this year: 1. Compete in my first competition & qualify for Nationals. 2. Get rid of all of my lower back fat (this is silly, but completely serious lol) 3. Pass my NASM exam & ISSA cert with an 80% or higher. 4. Build a good clientele base. 5. Be consistent on my blog and get really great feedback from you guys! 6. Keep inspiring people to be the best they can be! xo Comment Below on what your WHY is!! These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”
