This post is fun because maybe i'll learn a thing or two also! :) This is all about terms that people who are into fitness/clean eating/& working out may use that just don't make any sense to you! Fitness Guru's really have their own language when it comes to eating and lifting.
- Superset: a technique where you perform two exercises in a row with next to no rest in between
- IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) AKA 'Flexible Dieting': Basically staying within your "macro-nutrient" goals and not worrying so much about clean eating.
- Gains: Referring to gaining muscle.
- Hypertrophy: Increasing in muscle size AKA gaining muscle.
- Fasted Cardio: Your body has two different states "fed" (digesting and absorbing food) & "fasted" (once your body has finished processing and absorbing the nutrients - approx 4 hours after a meal). When doing cardio in a "fasted" state, your body is at a calorie deficit which allows your body to burn maximal fat.
- Macros: Types of food we put into our bodies. Ex; fat, carbs, protein, etc.
- Supps: This is just referring to the supplements taken to enhance their performance.
- Powerlifting: Competitive weightlifting that includes 3 types of lifting. Squats, Bench Press, and Deadlifts. Powerlifting differs from Bodybuilding in many ways. In powerlifting you don't have to be on a strict diet like bodybuilders follow.
- Core: Core is NOT to be mistaken as your abdominals!! Your abs are your abs.. the core of your body is actually everything besides your arms and legs.
I hope this was fun & you learned something! Any other words i'm missing that would be helpful? Leave them in the comments!
