Day 1: Padsamana (Lotus Pose)
I chose the Padsamana or 'lotus pose' as my first yoga pose because I was 5 days post surgery and it does not stretch anything too much while I'm still in recovery mode. You can place your hands like mine or lay them on your knees palms face up. You can also keep your hands behind your back. Hold this pose for a minute and pay attention to your exhaling. The lotus pose is a very peaceful & calming pose with so many great benefits:
. Helps with good posture and keeping your spine straight
. Opens your hips
. Stretches ligaments around your ankles & your knees
. Relaxes your brain
. Restores your energy levels
. Stimulates blood flow to pelvis, spine, abdomen & bladder
. As it opens your lower body it can help relieve menstrual pain or cramps
